We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President Data Analyst
Business: Data and Analytics Office
Principal responsibilities
- Implement and embed data governance principles across regulatory data domains to support compliance with BCBS 239 and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Establish and maintain data controls to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of regulatory data used in risk reporting and financial disclosures.
- Collaborate with Process owners, data stewards, and business/function/technology teams to define and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, and data quality rules aligned to regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in regulatory data governance, advising on data requirements for regulatory changes and supporting regulatory reviews and internal audits.
- Support the establishment and rollout of governance frameworks, standards and performance indicators with a focus on regulatory data compliance and control effectiveness.
- Ensure ongoings compliance with BCBS239 principles through periodic assessments, gap remediation and continuous enhancement of governance practices aligned to regulatory expectations.
- Lead assessments of data governance maturity and BCBS 239 compliance, identifying gaps and driving strategic remediation initiatives.
- Contribute to the Bank's data strategy initiatives by ensuring regulatory compliance including BCBS 239 principles is embedded in enterprise data architecture, operating models, and transformation programs
- Bachelor's degree with specialization in numerical discipline and concentration in computer science, information systems or other engineering specializations.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in delivering end-to-end Data Governance implementation projects, regulatory reporting, or risk data aggregation roles within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of BCBS 239 principles and regulatory expectations, detail knowledge of data management framework, deep understanding of data risk, policy and procedures.
- Proven ability to design and implement data controls, metadata management, and data quality monitoring for regulatory data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage across business, risk, compliance, and technology teams.
- Proficiency with data governance tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and familiarity with SQL and data analysis concepts.
- Experience in leading regulatory change programs or data remediation initiatives in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- Ability to design and deliver executive level KPI/KRIs and heatmaps that evidence BCBS 239 compliance progress & effectiveness
What additional skills will be good to have?
- Industry-recognized certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DCAM, or equivalent
- Understanding of regulatory reporting frameworks such as Basel III, or other jurisdictional regulatory regimes.
- Understanding of data privacy, security, and operational risk controls relevant to regulatory data (e.g., GDPR, ISO
- Prior involvement in interactions with regulators, internal audit, or external assurance teams on data governance topics.
- Knowledge of Conceptual/Logical Data Modelling, structured problem-solving, DQ rules, regulatory change impact assessment.
