Engineering Manager, AI Innovation and Research, Ambient, Stacks

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in leading Machine Learning (ML) design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

• Experience in managing a team of ML Engineers.
• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI development, with building and deploying production-level models and ML-Infrastructure.
• Experience in leading technical projects from conception to deployment.
• Ability to work with teams, including product managers, ML Software Engineers, and related stakeholders, to drive Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption and integration.

AI Innovation and Research is a team focused on accelerating Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation and redefining how users interact with computing. The team builds the foundational technology that powers seamless and intelligent user experiences across various teams. Our mission is to build AI capabilities and core building blocks for on-device and ambient technologies.The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

• Build capabilities in production that allow for the performant interaction between on-device , cloud Large Language Model (LLMs) or LLMs in a private environment.
• Work on architecture that spans devices and servers, while remaining adaptable to various compute and power capabilities.
• Work on horizontal technology, build the necessary infrastructure and pathways, drive customer onboarding, and own the upstreaming of user feedback and data back to related teams for Hybrid, Nano and Private Inference.
• Grow and manage a performing team of Software Engineers, Machine Learning (ML) engineers and ML researchers.
