Role Overview

As Political Editor, you will lead the coverage of
political developments at local, state, and national levels
, ensuring that our reporting remains sharp, accurate, and influential. This role combines editorial leadership, political insight, and the ability to build credible networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee
    political reporting and analysis
    across print and digital platforms.
  • Research, commission, and edit impactful political stories.
  • Conduct
    high-profile interviews
    with political figures and thought leaders.
  • Analyze policies and decisions to provide context and clarity for readers.
  • Mentor and guide reporters to strengthen investigative and analytical journalism.
  • Coordinate with editorial, digital, and design teams for
    comprehensive political coverage
    .
  • Drive
    exclusive stories, scoops, and ground reports
    that set the news agenda.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with political leaders, institutions, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy, fairness, and timeliness of all political news published.
  • Maintain ethical and responsible journalism standards in every aspect of coverage.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Indian politics
    (local, state, and national landscape).
  • Excellent
    news judgment
    and storytelling skills.
  • Proven experience in
    editorial roles
    (minimum 7–10 years preferred).
  • Existing
    relationships in the political and governance circuit
    .
  • Strong research, analysis, and editing skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in Marathi/Hindi is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Prior experience leading political coverage or teams in a reputed media house is a strong plus.
