We are seeking a Risk Analyst - Strategy Capabilities as part of the Lending team in Toast. You will work with other data analysts, operations managers, operational risk leads and other leaders to help define, implement and maintain robust processes and quality assurance practices across the lending products at Toast. Understanding of operational quality assurance concepts and practices, critical thinking, and a process centric and data driven mindset is key to success in this role.

About the roll

As Toast is expanding its business, there are various new products and financial services on the horizon for the organization to support our community. The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Build and execute Credit Strategy, Controls and Validation processes within the risk infrastructure to ensure every loan originated is compliant with credit policy
  • Develop controls and Identify Risks emerging from systemic and manual underwriting through automated anomaly detection and develop a validation process for all aspects of Lending.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze lending processes and identify opportunities to improve risk change management processes
  • Develop and implement continuous monitoring capabilities, and best practices to optimize lending operations.
  • Analyzing holistic strategy and systemic execution to Implement and iterate changes continuously.
  • Be part of the one team to drive recommendations for process enhancements and automation to minimize errors and increase productivity.

Do you have the right ingredients

  • 7-8 years of experience in a data and/or process centric role preferably in a financial product like lending
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficient expertise in SQL / Python / Snowflake / Excel / G-Suite(basic coding and reporting on SQL Python non negotiable)
  • Passionate about building robust and scalable processes and automation
  • Understanding of lending processes and methodologies
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and discrepancies.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex concepts.
  • Maintain effective communication with operational teams, compliance, and management on findings and implementing corrective actions
  • Perform audits on loan files to verify data integrity, completeness, and consistency.
  • Identify discrepancies, errors, and deficiencies in lending operations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Implement industry best practices in process design, monitoring and reporting
