One of our clients based in the Goregaon, Mumbai is looking for a Head of Finance & Accounts.

The candidate will lead the finance function with end-to-end responsibility for accounting, financial management, compliance, trade finance, and forex operations. The role requires strong technical and managerial expertise in export documentation, Letters of Credit (LCs), foreign exchange management and banking relationships while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and financial discipline across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial statements, MIS, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Drive financial planning, analysis, and cost control initiatives.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and adherence to accounting standards.

Trade Finance & Banking Operations:

  • Manage all trade finance activities, including issuance, negotiation, and settlement of LCs, Bills of Exchange, and Bank Guarantees.
  • Coordinate with banks for export documentation, LC discounting, bill collection, and negotiation.
  • Monitor export receivables, ensure timely realization, and manage working capital efficiently.
  • Build and manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and trade partners.
  • Ensure full compliance with RBI, FEMA, and DGFT guidelines related to international trade transactions.

Foreign Exchange Management:

  • Monitor forex exposure and evaluate currency risks on export transactions.
  • Work with banks and advisors to implement hedging strategies using forward contracts, swaps, or options.
  • Track currency fluctuations and assess their impact on business profitability.
  • Maintain reports on forex gains/losses and provide management insights on currency risk.

Compliance & Audit:

  • Ensure statutory compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax, GST, and FEMA requirements.
  • Liaise with auditors for statutory, internal, and bank audits.
  • Maintain complete documentation for export transactions and financial audits.

Leadership & Process Improvement:

  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounts team to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Automate and streamline financial and trade documentation processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Sales, Operations, Logistics) for end-to-end transaction visibility.

Qualifications
:

Must be a Chartered Accountant with 10–15 years of experience in finance and accounts, with at least 5 years in trade finance and forex management.

Strong understanding of BG documentation, LC operations, and international trade regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software (SAP / Tally / Oracle / ERP systems) and MS Excel.

In-depth knowledge of FEMA, RBI regulations, and banking practices.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, team management and communication skills.

Proven ability to manage banking relationships and foreign exchange exposure
