Industry Technology Specialist (ITS) – Distilling and Biofuel

Technical Service – Planetary Health Bio-solution, Novonesis India

Are you seeking an environment where creativity and innovation are as highly valued as scientific expertise? If so, consider joining our Grain Processing team, a dynamic group of industry technology specialists and lab technicians based in Bangalore. 

In this role, you will be at the forefront of technical service activities for the Distilling and Biofuel industries, contributing to the advancement and support of groundbreaking technologies within the Distilling and Biofuel industry. By leading the design and execution of complex trials and experiments, as well as building cross-functional networks, you will harness your strong analytical abilities and people management skills to turn innovative ideas into meaningful business outcomes that shape the future. 

Educational Qualifications 

·       Bachelor's (BE/B. Tech) or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Food Technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or Bioprocessing. 

Professional Experience 

· –10 years of professional experience in a grain-based distillery or biofuel production industry. 

Technical Expertise

• Grain-based Ethanol Process Expertise.

• Proficient in Grain milling (Rice/Corn/Sorghum/Wheat), Liquefaction and saccharification process, fermentation, distillation, and DDGS processes. 

Yeast Handling and Management: 

• Skilled in selecting optimal yeast strains for maximizing ethanol yield. 

• Experienced in yeast propagation, and maintaining yeast viability and vitality. 

• Proficient in troubleshooting yeast-related issues, such as contamination, low viability, and suboptimal fermentation performance. 

• Expertise in optimizing fermentation parameters (e.g., temperature, pH, and nutrient levels) for efficient sugar-to-ethanol conversion. 

• Strong understanding of yeast metabolism and its role in ethanol production. 

Troubleshooting Skills 

• Expert in resolving fermentation issues, including stuck/sluggish fermentations, contamination, and reduced ethanol yields. 

• Skilled in diagnosing yeast performance problems, such as low viability, vitality loss, and stress from inhibitors. 

• Proficient in optimizing process parameters (e.g., temperature, pH, nutrient levels, enzyme dosages) for efficient production. 

• Experienced in identifying and mitigating contamination through improved sterilization and CIP protocols. 

• Strong ability to perform root cause analysis, leveraging data trends and statistical tools to address production deviations. 

• Collaborative approach to problem-solving and training teams to prevent recurring technical challenges. 

Willingness to Travel
