We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering Lead to guide our software development team in the fast-paced world of e-commerce. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with a proven track record in working with high-performing teams, delivering scalable solutions, and working cross functionally. 

What You'll Do:

• Lead and Inspire: Drive the execution of development plans, establish best-in-class engineering processes, and proactively resolve issues to keep projects on track.
• Technical Oversight: Participate in design and code reviews (Java, Python), ensuring robust distributed systems architecture with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
• System Design: Utilize deep technical expertise to design, build, and optimize cloud-based platforms. Decompose systems into measurable unit costs and monitor key operational metrics.
• Operational Excellence: Identify and instrument key performance indicators, set up effective alarms, and maintain high operational standards.
• Effective Communication: Write clear, concise, and actionable updates for cross-functional teams across time zones. Author monthly narrative reports supported by engineering and business metrics.
• Talent Development: Recruit top engineering talent, mentor team members, and create career development opportunities. Manage and motivate teams of up to 20 people.
• Program Management: Prioritize feature requests, manage stakeholder expectations, and provide transparent updates on delivery status.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, production, and QA teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Champion Our Values: Cultivate a cohesive team culture defined by best-in-class engineering principles

Who You Are:

• Experience: 6-9+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years as a Lead. Prior experience building SaaS products, especially in e-commerce or retail.
• Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Python, Django, Flask, ReactJS, Airflow
  • Strong command of Git as a version control system
  • Deep knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS) and scalable architectures
  • Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and systems architecture
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and grow engineering teams.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience leading distributed teams.
• Customer Focus: Adept at building relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

This role will work for Flywheel via Omnicom Global Solutions. Omnicom Global Solutions is an integral part of Omnicom Group, a leading global marketing and corporate communications company. The Interview Process:
Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
 
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
