Somochem India Pvt Ltd is looking out for an experienced professional to join its team as Assistant Manager Procurement Polymers. This strategic role focuses on leading sourcing and supplier management.

Were looking for a candidate with good communication and a solid background in the polymer industry. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building long-term relationships and adept at engaging effectively with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Procurement: Develop and execute procurement strategies for (polymers/resins/plastics) aligned with organization goals.

  • Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for polymer raw materials (domestic & international).

  • Maintain healthy and strong partnership with Supplier to ensure continuity of supply.

  • Ensure alignment on quality, delivery, and pricing.

  • Cross- Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, logistics, finance, and quality teams to ensure seamless execution of procurement strategies.

  • Contract Negotiation:

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms to achieve cost savings.

  • Ensure procurement aligns with budget, risk and forecast across supply chain.

  • Supplier Performance: Monitor supplier KPIs and implement corrective actions where necessary.

  • Market & Price Tracking

  • Conduct Market analysis to track polymer market trends, raw material pricing, risk, opportunities and competitor sourcing strategies.

  • Provide regular updates to management for informed procurement decisions.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of polymers, resins, and petrochemical markets.
  • Negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP systems & MS Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Chemicals, Polymers, or Supply Chain Management (preferred).
  • 3–6 years of procurement experience in polymers with strong background in global sourcing.
  • Customer focus and ability to build trust-based relationships.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Experience in supplier performance management and cost optimization.
  • Analytical and proactive, with a solid understanding of global polymers markets.
  • Organizational and cross-functional collaboration skills.
