Role Definition

The Machine Subsystem team works on Embedded Control Systems for various Caterpillar Machines. This job involves designing, developing, and testing control system features for Caterpillar products. The control systems engineer will utilize a variety of tools to support all steps of the software development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather product and system requirements to further specify and document control system requirements.
  • Design and implement embedded control system for new functions or the enhancement of existing ones. Core functions are implemented in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Test and debug control system software using a variety of methods and tools to demonstrate requirements, optimize system performance, and improve code quality.
  • Collaborate with clients and partner teams to provide post-production support.

Qualifications:

  • BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in Embedded Software or Control System Software Development

Required Skills:

  • Experience in MATLAB, Simulink
  • Knowledge of Control Systems
  • Understanding of AUTOSAR architecture
  • Good Trouble Shooting/Debugging skills
  • Knowledge on Software Configuration Tools
  • Knowledge on Software testing and Tools (CANalayzer, CANape etc.,)
  • Ability to investigate, analyse data and identify root cause of customer issues
  • Good Communication and proven ability to work across software layers

•    Summarizes the overall process for developing a new product or service for the organization.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
 Level Basic Understanding: 

•    Describes key features and aspects of a specific testing discipline or methodology.

•    Describes common errors that are uncovered by product testing.

•    Cites examples of testing tools and practices currently in use.

•    Names key documentation (paper, audio, video) required during the testing process.
