Job Title: Barista
Department: Food & Beverage / Café Operations
Reporting To: Restaurant Manager
Job Summary:
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and light snacks while delivering excellent customer service. The role requires maintaining cleanliness, following company standards, and creating a welcoming environment for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to standard recipes.
- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide menu recommendations and upsell beverages, pastries, and food items.
- Operate coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment safely.
- Ensure consistency in beverage quality and presentation.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the work area, tables, and café environment.
- Handle cash and POS transactions accurately.
- Monitor inventory of coffee, milk, and supplies; inform the manager for replenishment.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Support café operations including opening, closing, and restocking duties.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Barista or in a customer service role (preferred).
- Knowledge of coffee brewing methods, latte art, and café menu items is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail with a passion for coffee and customer service.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and POS systems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in food safety or barista training (added advantage).
Work Environment:
- Standing for extended periods.
- Handling hot equipment and beverages.
- Team-oriented workplace.
