The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you'll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You'll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There's never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You'll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You'll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement mainframe-based applications and enhancements.

• Handle end-to-end development lifecycle from requirement analysis to deployment and support.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize batch and online systems.

• Develop and maintain COBOL, Assembler, JCL, DB2, and CICS programs.

• Conduct code reviews, impact analysis, and performance tuning.

• Provide production support and perform root cause analysis for incidents.

• Create and maintain technical documentation and ensure adherence to coding standards.

• Support migration and modernization efforts integrating mainframe with distributed/cloud systems.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Minimum 6 to 10 years of experience in Mainframe Developer.

• Programming Languages: COBOL, Assembler, JCL, REXX (added advantage)

• Mainframe Tools & Utilities: TSO/ISPF, File-Aid, Expeditor, Abend-Aid, IBM utilities

• Transaction & Database Management: CICS, DB2 (SQL, Stored Procedures, performance tuning), VSAM

• Job Scheduling & Version Control: Endevor, zWS (TWS/OPC)

• Debugging & Testing Tools: Xpeditor, File-Aid, Abend-Aid, PDF-Fast

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and documentation abilities

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Experience with IMS (optional but preferred)

• Familiarity with CLIST scripting

• Exposure to mainframe modernization or integration with distributed/cloud systems

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices in a mainframe environment
