The Enterprise IT team at Yahoo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-powered productivity tools and modern web applications that revolutionize how our employees work. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade software solutions that leverage the latest advancements in AI and cloud technologies to accelerate business workflows, increasing efficiency and productivity across the organization.

As a key member of the IT - Productivity, Support, and Shared Engineering team, you will contribute to the development of enterprise-grade software solutions that integrate cutting-edge AI technologies to streamline business processes and significantly boost employee productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Design, architect, and deliver scalable AI-enabled software solutions that address complex business challenges.

• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across different time zones to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.

• Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers across the team.

• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies and frameworks, including generative AI and large language models.

• Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures using AWS or GCP services to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements, set technical direction, and deliver impactful solutions.

• Continuously monitor industry trends in AI productivity and quickly translate innovations into actionable solutions for employees.

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience for building APIs, backend development, and DevOps, including recent experience in a senior or lead role.

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or TypeScript.

• Experience integrating AI/ML technologies and services (e.g., LLMs, natural language processing, machine learning APIs).

• Excellent communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.

• Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and security best practices.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience in AI platforms, GenAI, and machine learning application development.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with strong attention to detail.

• A proactive attitude towards evolving skill sets and staying current with technology trends.

• Capable of leading in a collaborative environment involving developing solutions, presenting those solutions for review by peers, and training co-workers on the solutions.

• Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.

• Background in leading agile development teams and delivering high-impact software solutions at scale.
