About the role

At Alaan, we're transforming how businesses across MENA manage spend—powering card issuance, payments, and expense management with intelligence, transparency, and control. As our transaction volumes and systems scale, accurate reconciliation becomes central to product reliability and customer trust.

We're looking for a Recon Analyst to own the reconciliation process across our internal ledgers, partner systems, and bank accounts. You'll work closely with Product, Finance, and Engineering teams to trace mismatches, design better reconciliation logic, and ensure every transaction in the Alaan ecosystem is fully accounted for.

This role blends analytical rigor with operational precision—perfect for someone who loves investigating data at scale, understanding payment flows, and improving processes that keep financial systems accurate and reliable.

What you'll do
  • Daily Reconciliations: Own daily and monthly reconciliations across internal ledgers, bank accounts, and partner systems.
  • Variance Analysis: Investigate and document mismatches, identify root causes, and recommend system or process fixes.
  • Audit & Documentation: Maintain a clean, auditable trail of reconciliations, variances, and resolutions.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with Finance and Engineering to align reconciliation logic across systems and ensure consistency.
  • Product Support: Partner with Product teams to analyze transaction data, track card usage and performance, and enhance reliability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Propose automation opportunities for reconciliation and reporting workflows.
What we are looking for
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in reconciliation, product operations, or fintech data analysis.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL and Excel; comfortable working with large transactional datasets. Hands-on experience with Python for automation or validation workflows is a plus.
  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of payment flows, card ledgering, settlements, and account balance systems.
  • Detail Orientation: Ability to identify, trace, and clearly explain mismatches across ledgers and systems.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication skills; comfortable working with cross-functional teams including Product, Finance, and Engineering.
  • Nice-to-Have:
    • Prior experience in fintech, payments, or neobanking environments.
    • Exposure to reconciliation automation or workflow tools.
    • Experience building dashboards using Metabase, Looker, or PowerBI.
    • Familiarity with card transaction lifecycles and financial control processes.
  • Ideal Background: Experience in fintech, banking operations, or payment product teams—similar roles might include Reconciliation Analyst, Product Ops Analyst, or Finance Ops Analyst in payments or card issuance.
