Job Title : Kotlin Developer

  • Android TV App (Consultant).

Engagement Type : Remote | Contractual | 12-Month Contract. Location : Onsite, Delhi. Project Overview : We are rebuilding our Android TV app from scratch using Native Kotlin, replacing our current Flutter-based implementation. The focus is on delivering a high-performance, scalable, and user-friendly TV application that adheres to modern Android TV standards and best development practices. Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and develop a high-performance Android TV application using Native Kotlin.
  • Architect the app using MVVM or Clean Architecture for maintainability and scalability.
  • Integrate and optimize ExoPlayer for smooth video playback and low-latency streaming.
  • Build UI components using the Leanback library and ensure seamless remote navigation.
  • Follow best coding practices, write modular, testable code, and conduct peer code reviews.
  • Implement DRM, multi-device login, and secure authentication mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with in-house engineers, contribute to mentoring, and ensure knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure cross-platform compatibility including Tizen OS where applicable.
  • Focus on UX enhancements for large screens and media-rich environments.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • 5 years of experience in Android development with Kotlin.
  • 2 years of experience in Android TV app development.
  • Strong grasp of Android TV guidelines, Leanback library, and custom UI.
  • Proficient with ExoPlayer, Coroutines, Flow, Jetpack components.
  • Familiarity with Dependency Injection (Dagger/Hilt) and modern architecture patterns.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and GraphQL integrations.
  • Hands-on with Tizen OS development.
  • Experience with unit/UI testing (Espresso) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to debug and optimize performance.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in OTT or media streaming platforms.
  • DRM experience with Widevine or PlayReady.
  • Exposure to multi-device authentication/login workflows.
  • Prior experience working in remote teams or in consulting roles.
