The IVF Counsellor provides psychological and emotional support to individuals and couples undergoing fertility treatment, including IVF and other Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). The role involves facilitating decision-making, offering pre- and post-treatment counselling, and helping patients cope with the emotional challenges of infertility, loss, and third-party reproduction

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and couples counselling to patients before, during, and after IVF treatment.
  • Offer support for emotional issues related to infertility, treatment stress, pregnancy loss, and failed IVF cycles.
  • Conduct mandatory counselling sessions for third-party reproduction (e.g., donor sperm/egg, surrogacy).
  • Assist patients in informed decision-making regarding treatment options, embryo storage, donation, and withdrawal.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate documentation of counselling sessions and assessments.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary fertility team, including doctors, nurses, embryologists, and coordinators.
  • Deliver crisis intervention support during emotionally difficult times (e.g., miscarriage, ethical dilemmas).
  • Educate and support patients through written resources, workshops, or support groups, as needed.
  • Stay up to date with legal, ethical, and clinical developments in fertility and reproductive mental health.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant professional, ethical, and clinic-specific policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Awareness of cultural, ethical, and legal issues in fertility treatment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive clinical environment.
