Roles and responsibilities

1. Audit Planning & Execution

a) Assist in preparing the annual/quarterly internal audit plan in alignment with risk assessment.

b) Conduct audits of business processes, financial records, and operational controls across units.

c) Perform site visits (based on management recommendation), sampling, walkthroughs, and substantive testing to verify compliance.

2. Risk & Control Assessment

a) Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and potential risks (financial, operational, compliance, IT).

b) Evaluate adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures.

c) Recommend corrective actions and improvements to mitigate risks.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Checks

a) Ensure adherence to company SOPs, ERP/financial controls, and statutory requirements.

b) Validate compliance with tax, accounting, and corporate governance norms (e.g., GST, TDS, Companies Act).

c) Support audits related to ISO or other external frameworks, if applicable.

4. Reporting & Documentation

a) Draft clear, concise audit observations with supporting evidence.

b) Prepare audit reports highlighting findings, root causes, and practical recommendations.

c) Discuss audit results with process owners and management, ensuring buy-in for corrective measures.

5. Follow-Up & Monitoring

a) Track status of audit recommendations and corrective actions.

b) Conduct follow-up reviews to confirm timely closure of open issues.

c) Escalate unresolved or critical findings to senior management.

6. Data Analytics & ERP Controls

a) Use ERP (e.g., Orion, Tally) and BI tools (e.g., Excel analytics) for control testing and trend analysis.

b) Perform data validation for GL mapping, COA reviews, inventory controls, and reconciliations.

c) Support automation initiatives and audit digitization efforts.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

a) Liaise with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and IT teams during audits.

b) Provide guidance to business teams on strengthening processes and implementing controls.

c) Support external/statutory auditors by providing internal audit documentation and clarifications.

8. Special Assignments

a) Participate in fraud detection, forensic reviews, or ad-hoc management investigations/audit.

b) Contribute to developing and updating SOPs, policies, and compliance checklists.

Qualification

  • Should be a qualified CA or equivalent.
  • Should be CIA qualified.

Experience:

  • Should have minimum 2 to 6 years of Internal Audit Experience
