Role & responsibilities

Performance Testing Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive performance testing strategies aligned with project and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define test goals, KPIs, and success criteria.
  • Design realistic and scalable performance test scenarios that simulate real-world usage.

Test Execution & Monitoring

  • Design, develop, and execute performance test plans, test scripts, and datasets.
  • Perform load, stress, endurance, spike, and scalability testing using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.
  • Monitor key system resources (CPU, memory, disk, network) during test runs.
  • Use APM tools (e.g., Grafana, Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics) to monitor performance and identify bottlenecks.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze performance test results to detect slow response times, resource saturation, and other performance issues.
  • Work with development and infrastructure teams to diagnose and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Create detailed test reports with findings, recommendations, and insights for improvement.

Tooling & Automation

  • Evaluate, configure, and maintain performance testing tools.
  • Develop and maintain performance test scripts and frameworks.
  • Automate performance testing where applicable to improve efficiency and coverage.

Collaboration & Optimization

  • Collaborate with developers, QA, DevOps, and system architects to understand system architecture and integration points.
  • Participate in performance tuning, capacity planning, and infrastructure sizing efforts.
  • Contribute to continuous performance improvements across the application lifecycle.

Documentation

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on performance testing processes, standards, scripts, and methodologies.

Preferred candidate profile

  • 34 years of hands-on experience in performance testing.
  • Proficiency in Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, HTTP/S protocols, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience in identifying and analyzing performance issues using logs and thread dumps.
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, InfluxDB, Prometheus, New Relic).
  • Basic scripting skills in Python, Groovy, Shell, or Java.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and integrating tests into automation workflows.
  • In-depth knowledge of performance test types: Load, Stress, Spike, Endurance, and Scalability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native testing strategies.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
  • ISTQB/CPPT or other relevant performance testing certifications.
