Job Summary

The Electrical Panel Sheet-Metal Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing the sheet-metal enclosures, fabrication drawings, and mechanical layouts for electrical panels such as PCC, MCC, APFC, and Control Panels. The role involves transforming electrical designs into manufacturable enclosure structures that ensure mechanical strength, aesthetics, and compliance with standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design panel enclosures, base frames, doors, mounting plates, and busbar chambers using CAD tools (SolidWorks).
  • Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, sectional views, and detailed fabrication drawings for manufacturing.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) for sheet-metal parts, hardware, gaskets, hinges, locks, and other accessories.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC/IS mechanical standards, IP protection (IP54/IP65), and safety norms.
  • Work closely with fabrication and powder-coating teams to ensure dimensional accuracy and finish quality.
  • Validate panel structures through fit-up verification, mechanical testing, and prototype review.
  • Maintain revision control, drawing numbering systems, and design records.

  • Timely delivery
  • Follow up with ISO and 5s standard

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, for sheet-metal design.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes shearing, bending, welding, and powder coating.
  • Knowledge of panel mechanical layouts, mounting structure design, and ventilation planning.
  • Familiarity with busbar arrangements, earthing layouts, and gland plate provisions.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical GA drawings and SLDs.
  • Good teamwork, documentation, and communication skills.

Qualification

  • ITI/Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Experience

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in Sheet-Metal Design for LV/MV Electrical Panels or related fabrication industries.
  • Hands-on experience with Schneider, L&T, ABB, or Siemens type panels is preferred.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling of enclosures and rendering for brochures or marketing.
  • Familiarity with laser cutting and CNC punching operations.
  • Exposure to IP testing procedures and thermal management for panel enclosures.
