Medication handling

  • Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
  • Measure, count, and package medications.
  • Prepare and print prescription labels.
  • Prepare intravenous (IV) solutions or assist in the compounding of medications under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Distribute medications to various hospital wards and units.

Inventory management

  • Monitor stock levels, report out-of-stock items, and place orders for replenishment.
  • Check and remove expired medications from inventory.
  • Keep shelves organized and stocked according to therapeutic use or alphabetically.
  • Process drug deliveries and ensure proper storage.

Administrative and clerical duties

  • Enter prescription and patient data into pharmacy software.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and filing systems.
  • Answer phones and address inquiries from healthcare staff or patients.
  • Handle billing, insurance claims, and other pharmacy-related paperwork.

Patient safety and compliance

  • Adhere to strict pharmacy regulations, ethical standards, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure patient information remains confidential.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy workspace.
