Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer

• Purpose of the job

As a Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer, you will take a leadership role in designing, implementing, and optimizing hybrid cloud environments that empower our clients to achieve exceptional results. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and provide strategic direction in architecting robust and scalable infrastructure solutions. Your mastery of hybrid cloud technologies, automation, and infrastructure design will be instrumental in shaping the future of our hybrid cloud offerings.

The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders across the EMEA region. Therefore, individuals with strong English communication skills, at least two years of experience working with Azure suite programs, and an AZ-900 certification are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex hybrid cloud solutions, working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and align solutions with business goals.
• Architect and oversee the deployment of hybrid cloud infrastructure, incorporating a combination of on-premises and cloud-based resources.
• Guide the integration of diverse cloud services and technologies, ensuring seamless interoperability and adherence to industry best practices.
• Implement advanced security measures, including identity and access management, encryption, and regular vulnerability assessments, to maintain a highly secure hybrid cloud environment.
• Collaborate with network engineers to establish robust connectivity across on-premises and cloud resources.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to hybrid cloud, infrastructure, and automation.
• Participate in the IT On call Rota & Patching Rota where needed to support the server estates and business.
• Undertake BAU activities to support the 3rdLine BAU Team, working on incidents calls and escalations, providing expert technical trouble shooting and problem management skills to resolve complex issues and providing root cause analysis reports.
• Hybrid Virtual Infrastructure Architecture (Azure & On-Premise), Lead the design, architecture, and strategic deployment of both Azure Virtual Machines and on-premise virtualization solutions, such as VMware and Hyper-V. Oversee template configurations, infrastructure automation, and disaster recovery strategies across hybrid environments, including Azure Site Recovery (ASR).
• Advanced Monitoring, Security, & Compliance for Hybrid Environments, Define and implement comprehensive security, monitoring, and compliance strategies across Azure IaaS and on-premise infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V), utilizing tools such as Azure Security Center, Windows Defender, and on-premise security solutions to ensure consistent protection and response capabilities.
• Hybrid Endpoint Management & Compliance Enforcement, Oversee the organization's endpoint management strategy using Microsoft Intune for both cloud and on-premise devices, ensuring compliance, security, and lifecycle management. Define and enforce security baselines using Windows Defender and on-premise endpoint security solutions.
• Networking & Traffic Management (Cloud & On-Premise), In conjunction with the HH Global Networking Team, help support manage complex networking solutions for both Azure and on-premise environments, including Application Gateway, Front Door, Load Balancer, and DNS for cloud services such as NS1 or other on-premise networking tools to ensure traffic routing, availability, and security.
• Hybrid Identity, Access, & Subscription Governance, Establish and manage identity access controls, Single Sign-On (SSO), App Registrations, and subscription governance across Azure and on-premise environments, ensuring secure and consistent identity management and compliance for hybrid infrastructures.
• PKI & Security Leadership Across Cloud and On-Premise, Lead the implementation and governance of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and security solutions for both cloud and on-premise systems, ensuring encryption, authentication, and secure communication practices are enforced throughout the organization.
• Support automation: Use tools that help set up and manage computer systems automatically, so things run faster and smoother without needing to do everything manually.
• Keep systems running well: Watch how systems are performing, fix tricky problems when they come up, and take steps ahead of time to avoid issues—making sure everything stays reliable and available.
• Work with DevOps teams: Team up with the people who build and release software to make sure updates and new features can be delivered quickly and efficiently across both cloud and on-site systems.

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional) are highly advantageous.
• Extensive hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, or similar roles within the IT industry.
• In-depth understanding of hybrid cloud concepts, virtualization, and proficiency in cloud technologies (Primarily: Azure Secondary: AWS, Google Cloud, etc.).
• Extensive understanding of VMware, Hyper V, Azure HCI technologies.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and infrastructure management.
• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Experience of working with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Profound knowledge of networking concepts, including VPN, VPC, subnets, security groups, and hybrid networking in a cloud environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to convey technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
• Expertise in managing and optimizing hybrid cloud management platforms and tools.
• Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring and logging solutions.
• Previous experience in successfully migrating complex on-premises workloads to the cloud.
