General Description

As a Plant Layout Design and Engineering Expert, you will play a crucial role in the successful design and execution of hydro power projects. Your responsibilities will include a wide range of tasks, from creating single-line diagrams to developing detailed electrical and mechanical plant layouts, all while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to expedite project timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards. Additionally, you will lead initiatives focused on continuous process improvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Plant Layout Design and Engineering:

Develop single-line diagrams and prepare electrical and mechanical layout drawings for hydro power plants, including powerhouses, substations (up to 500kV), valve houses, and dam areas. This includes civil interface drawings created using 3D design software.

Strong hands-on experience with various 3D design tools, such as Autodesk Revit, Unigraphics NX, AutoCAD , Autodesk Inventor 3D and Navisworks.

Coordinate with clients and civil contractors to streamline the layout and civil interface requirements, focusing on overall dimensions, equipment arrangement, and civil blockouts.

Prepare detailed layouts for bus ducts, Grounding cable trays, piping, and ventilation ducts.

Over 8 years of experience in layout engineering using 3D tools, including more than 5 years specifically with 3D Revit and UG NX tools. This experience also involves the preparation of bills of materials (BOM) and their upload to ERP/SAP systems.

Hands-on experience in BIM parametrization as well.

Engineering Excellence: Extensive knowledge of power plant layouts, Electro-Mechanical Equipment's, including substations and switchyards. Communicate design details with customers, addressing any queries or concerns. Provide technical support to the procurement and project management teams during technical negotiations.

Customer Focus: Prioritize customer satisfaction and maintain a strong focus on quality.

Troubleshooting skills: Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills. Offer technical solutions to project sites during erection and commissioning.

Cross-functional and Supplier collaboration: Interface with cross-functional teams, including procurement, quality control, and erection & commissioning, and the suppliers to ensure seamless integration of engineering activities within defined time limits and to expedite project progress.

Continuous Improvement: Work together with vendors to develop alternative designs and innovative solutions, ensuring adherence to contractual and project requirements.

Independent Handling of Design: Take ownership of complete Electro-mechanical plant layouts of Hydro Power Project, ensuring they meet project-specific requirements.

Timely Delivery: Prioritizing customer needs while ensuring on-time delivery (OTD) of engineering systems and adherence to design schedules.

Adherence to standards and Quality Assurance: Ensure that the design and engineering of packages meet guaranteed and contractual requirements while adhering to relevant industry standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Qualification: Diploma/BE/ BTech in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering.
