Position Overview:

Boeing India Engineering team is currently looking to hire an Experienced Simulation Software Engineer to join their team in Bengaluru, KA. Boeing India Software Engineering (BISE) team is the preferred provider of technologies and innovation across the entire Boeing enterprise.
 

We work across the complete product lifecycle of Boeing's commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes. We provide innovative support for our current and future products and services, act as global scouts for innovative technologies, and solve our customers' most difficult technology challenges. Boeing India Software Engineering (BISE) is part of Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC, based in Bangalore) focused on innovation, and developing and transitioning new technologies in support of Boeing products and services.

Position Responsibilities:

  • As an Experienced Simulation Software Engineer, the selected individual will work in the Boeing India Software Engineering (BISE) team to develop, maintain and improve Aviation software products.

  • The position involves aligning / integrating / streamlining a range of product support, maintenance and enhancement requirements and will drive technology leadership for critical design considerations and drive future integrated product roadmap.

  • The selected individual will maintain and improve application software related to aircraft and air traffic management and potentially integrate with other products to provide a world-class modeling and simulation tool suite for Boeing customers globally.

  • The selected individual will work with cross-functional teams spread across multiple products and locations within Boeing and external partners.

  • The selected individual work in an Agile Scrum team following the best practices on Software Craftsmanship such as Test-driven development and Pair Programming/Peer Reviews.

  • The selected individual will work in close cooperation - actively aligns the technical roadmap, APIs and Interaction Design, with teams based in international locations.

  • The selected individual will be responsible to create and maintain necessary software design and architecture documentation.

  • The selected individual will actively support in reducing technical debt.

  • The selected individual will be a skilled, highly professional engineer, work collaboratively with an international team comprising software development, product management, and business analysis.

  • The selected individual will also be responsible to provide support to the development of internal competency and resources for critical skill sets and be a sought-after expert that other developers can benefit from.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION

  • Fluent in programming languages (C, C++ and Python)

  • Fluent in Version Control systems (Subversion [SVN], GITLAB)

  • Solid understanding of Plant and Controller Modeling techniques

  • Having experience in the Control Systems Domain with evidence of a thorough understanding of requirements to solve problems and actively participate in simulation software development is an added advantage.

  • Hands on experience in using modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Julia, Open Modelica and other tools)

  • Very good understanding of FMI Standards and hands-on experience in FMU model integrations with Simulation frameworks

  • Hands-on experience with Hardware in Loop testing, Real-Time Simulations and having expertise in ARINC 429 and RS 485 Communication protocols

  • It would be good to have experience in developing functional requirements specification and hands-on experience using simulation model development tools.

  • Strong data-oriented design, standard template library and architecture skills.

  • Experience with code and data optimization.

  • Able to rapidly learn and understand software by reading source code and stepping through code under a debugger.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Passion for avionics and software development.

  • Collaborate effectively with a team of engineers, QA, Build, UI, Doc, and Project Management.

  • Understanding of Scrum/Agile development. Extensive experience in collaborating within an Agile team setting, working as a group to drive Epic/Feature/Story creation as well as solution design and architecture.

  • Solid foundation in the deployment of scalable, low-latency, and highly available distributed systems.

  • The candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills and, a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time constrained environment.

  • Ability to independently execute & deliver on the backlog without dependency or handholding.

  • Must be an excellent team player.

  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.

  • Ensure software is up to date with the latest technologies.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters/PhD in relevant discipline

  • Expertise in advanced modeling techniques such as state-space modeling, system dynamics, and multi-domain simulation

  • Familiarity with MBSE methodologies and tools, such as SysML or UML, to support system design and analysis

  • Understanding of aerospace industry standards and regulations, such as DO-178C for software development and DO-254 for hardware.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI to automate the build, test, and deployment processes for simulation models and software

  • Proficiency in popular ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, or Scikit-learn for developing and deploying machine learning models

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 8+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master + 7 years related work experience.)
