Sr. AI Engineer

Our site in Pune, India is seeking ​​​​​​​a highly skilled and motivated Senior AI Engineer to join our IT Digital Platform team in Pune, India. In this strategic role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of intelligent systems that address complex business challenges and enable the next generation of AI-powered solutions across the enterprise.

As a senior member of the team, you will architect and implement advanced AI models and intelligent agents that drive automation, decision-making, and predictive capabilities. You will collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable AI solutions. You will mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth, promoting best practices, and cultivating a culture of innovation and continuous learning. You will stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact and integrating them into our platform strategy where appropriate.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of AI agents and multi-agent systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
• Leverage GCP Agent Builder to architect, orchestrate, and manage intelligent agents that deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product owners, data scientists, and software engineers—to translate complex business requirements into robust AI-driven solutions.
• Ensure production-grade readiness of AI agents by implementing best practices for scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and security.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior AI engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and continuous feedback, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
• Develop and maintain internal documentation, training materials, and reusable assets to promote consistency and accelerate agent development across teams.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies and GCP innovations, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance platform capabilities and drive continuous improvement.

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a significant focus on developing and deploying production-grade AI applications.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. Experience with Agentic AI concepts, frameworks, and practical application.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant AI/ML libraries and frameworks.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) and their application in real-world use cases.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

• Direct experience with Vertex AI Agent Builder, Agent Engine, or Google Agentspace.
• Familiarity with the Agent Development Kit (ADK) for building and orchestrating agents.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes within GCP (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow).
• Agentic AI concepts, including understanding of agent architectures (single-agent, multi-agent) and agent communication protocols.
• Ability to design and integrate agents with various internal and external APIs/services.
• IAM (Identity and Access Management) understanding within GCP.
