Job Summary:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of lab renovation/modification projects and special projects requested by clients. This role requires a strong background in engineering principles, project management, and facilities management to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Design:
1. Collaborate with stakeholders/Business Units/Client to understand project requirements and objectives.
Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
Create design layouts and technical specifications for lab renovations and client projects.
Review and approve design specifications, drawings, and plans provided by vendor partners.
Conduct site assessments to determine the feasibility and requirements for renovations.
Provide technical support and guidance to ensure engineering solutions meet project goals.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
Ensure all drawings are prepared/amended and archived as per client requirements
Project Management:
1. Coordinate and oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other external partners.
Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks.
Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed on-site.
Client Communication and Management:
1. Being the primary point of contact for clients, address their needs and concerns.
Provide regular project updates and reports to clients and stakeholders.
Gather and incorporate client feedback into project execution.
Ensure client satisfaction and manage expectations throughout the project.
Documentation and Reporting:
1. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, contracts, and reports.
Prepare and present project status reports, including progress, challenges, and solutions.
Document any changes in project scope and manage change orders.
Ensure all project documentation is complete and accurate for future reference and compliance.
Team Collaboration and Leadership:
1. Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, facilities, and procurement.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and project staff.
Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
Continuous Improvement:
1. Evaluate completed projects to identify areas for improvement.
Implement best practices and lessons learned in future projects.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in laboratory design and project management.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in project engineering, with a focus on lab renovations or similar projects.
Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Possess strong basics on electrical/mechanical engineering & utility services
Skills:
1. Strong knowledge of project process, materials, and regulations.
Exposure to project management software (e.g., MS Project) and CAD software.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Attributes:

Proactive and able to work independently with minimal/no supervision.
Adaptable to changing project requirements and environments.
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
Work Environment:
1. Primarily office-based with frequent visits to the areas/locations where projects are been executed.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines.
