Quality Assurance Test Engineer

Job Overview:

This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical QA Test Engineer with a background in data management and a strong aptitude for data entry processes. This person will ensure the quality and reliability of data-intensive applications and systems. They will use their expertise in handling large datasets, Excel, and SQL to validate data integrity, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure software solutions meet the highest standards of accuracy and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze system specifications and requirements, particularly focusing on data input, processing, and output.
• Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases to validate the functionality, integrity, and performance of data-intensive applications.
• Execute test cases (manual and automated) across various testing types, including functional, integration, regression, and data validation testing.
• Design and create automated test scripts to validate data accuracy, consistency, and completeness, especially when dealing with large datasets.
• Utilize advanced Excel functionalities to organize, analyze, and manipulate test data effectively.
• Develop and execute complex SQL queries to perform backend database validation, verify data integrity, and identify discrepancies between source and target data systems.
• Conduct thorough data entry process testing, including large-volume data entry scenarios, to ensure data is correctly input, transformed, and stored within the system.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and data anomalies using bug tracking tools like JIRA, providing clear and concise reproduction steps.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and data engineers to understand data flows, system architecture, and potential areas of concern for data quality.
• Participate in data analysis activities, using SQL and Excel skills to explore data patterns, identify inconsistencies, and support troubleshooting efforts.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and best practices, particularly regarding data validation and testing methodologies.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends in data quality management, testing tools, and database technologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or a similar role, with a focus on testing data-driven applications.
• Strong experience with
  data entry processes, especially handling large volumes of data
  within systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  , including advanced functions for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
• Solid knowledge of SQL
  for database querying, data validation, and backend testing (including writing complex queries).
• Experience with software testing methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data validation testing techniques and tools specifically designed for large datasets or data warehouses (e.g., ETL testing).
• Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Java for test automation and data manipulation.
• Familiarity with data governance principles and practices.
• Experience with API testing using tools like Postman or REST Assured.

Certification in software testing or quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB, CTFL)
