Software Manager – Leading Pharma Giant (Onsite, Chennai, India)

We are seeking an accomplished
Software Manager
to establish and lead a
30-member engineering group
for a US-based leading Pharma giant setting up their base in India. This is a pivotal onsite role in Chennai, India – responsible for driving technical execution, scaling talent, and aligning delivery with global product and clinical objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team (Frontend, Backend, DevOps, QA).
  • Ensure reliable, regulatory-compliant releases delivered on schedule.
  • Partner with U.S. and EU stakeholders to define architecture, roadmaps, and OKRs.
  • Drive a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Technical Expertise

  • Frontend:
    Strong skills in TypeScript/HTML/CSS; Svelte preferred (React/Vue/Angular acceptable).
  • Backend:
    Expert in C++ with multithreading; Qt a plus; familiarity with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks.
  • DevOps:
    Hands-on with Docker/Kubernetes, CMake, GitHub workflows; strong Linux (NixOS experience a plus).
  • Quality:
    Experience with Selenium, Playwright, or similar automated UI frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in software development, with 3+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Proven experience scaling teams in regulated or mission-critical domains (medical devices, pharma, aerospace, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across global time zones.
