Job Description: AHA BLS & ACLS Instructor

Position Overview:

The AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) & ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality life-saving training courses following the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. The instructor ensures participants acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies in various healthcare and community settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Delivery:

  2. Conduct AHA-certified BLS and ACLS courses, including hands-on skills practice, interactive discussions, and simulation-based training.

  3. Adapt teaching techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners, including healthcare professionals and community members.

  4. Ensure that all courses adhere to the latest AHA guidelines and protocols.

  5. Course Preparation:

  6. Set up and maintain training equipment, including manikins, defibrillators, and other teaching aids.

  7. Prepare course materials such as handouts, manuals, and certificates.

  8. Verify the readiness of training facilities to ensure a conducive learning environment.

  9. Evaluation and Feedback:

  10. Assess participants' knowledge and skills through written tests, skill demonstrations, and scenario-based evaluations.

  11. Provide constructive feedback to enhance participant learning and confidence.

  12. Maintain records of participant performance and certification status.

  13. Compliance and Reporting:

  14. Ensure compliance with AHA and organizational policies, including the proper use of branding and adherence to course standards.

  15. Maintain accurate documentation and submit reports on course completion to the AHA Training Center.

  16. Equipment Maintenance:

  17. Regularly inspect and maintain training equipment to ensure functionality and safety.

  18. Coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.

  19. Professional Development:

  20. Stay updated on the latest AHA guidelines, training techniques, and industry best practices.

  21. Participate in instructor updates, workshops, and recertification courses as required by the AHA.

Qualifications:

  • Current AHA Instructor Certification in BLS and ACLS.

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in healthcare, emergency response, or education/training roles.

  • Strong knowledge of CPR, advanced cardiac life support, and emergency response protocols.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching other AHA courses (e.g., PALS, Heartsaver).

  • Background in nursing, paramedicine, or a related healthcare profession.

Work Conditions:

  • Onsite delivery of courses at training centers, hospitals, or client facilities.

  • Flexible working hours, including weekends, based on course schedules.

  • Physical ability to set up equipment and demonstrate life-saving techniques.
