Mechanical Draftsperson

Our client is an Australian company, a leader in their industry, seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Draftsperson to join their team remotely from India.

*Fixed 5-day working week (Monday to Friday), day shift, with remote opportunity*

THE ROLE:

The ideal candidate will create accurate mechanical drawings and 3D models, contribute to product development from concept through completion, and ensure fabrication quality with clear documentation. This position combines drafting expertise with practical hands-on involvement, including assembly, rework, inspection, and measurement tasks. A strong practical design approach, supported by mechanical knowledge and project experience, is essential for success.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist in designing and developing mechanical and electrical projects.
• Contribute to concept product development.
• Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using 3D CAD software.
• Prepare manuals, reports, and other technical documents.
• Manage smaller projects from conception to implementation.
• Liaise with customers, production staff, and suppliers.
• Maintain drafting libraries, work instructions, and office documentation.
• Ensure adherence to ISO9001 quality standards.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in 3D mechanical CAD design and drafting.
• Mechanical engineering qualification preferred; equivalent experience also considered.
• Additional trade qualifications in fabrication/manufacturing will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, NX, and Teamcenter software.
• Hands-on experience working with engineers, production teams, and customers.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication methods and workshop practices.
• Skilled in MS Office applications for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to prepare clear assembly instructions and technical reports.
• Strong communication skills with a proactive and positive attitude.
