Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled Drupal Backend Developer with hands-on experience in Drupal 9, 10, or 11 to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering real-world projects and can confidently discuss technical design decisions, trade-offs, and lessons learned. This role requires expertise in backend development, API integrations, and optionally strong frontend development for headless/decoupled implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Drupal 9/10/11 websites and applications.
  • Implement Migrate API (migrate, migrate_plus, migrate_tools) for data migration projects.
  • Design and develop custom modules (plugins, hooks, services with dependency injection, event subscribers).
  • Build and extend custom APIs (REST/JSON:API), including authentication, versioning, and contract management.
  • Work with Drupal headless/decoupled architecture, integrating with frontend frameworks where required.
  • Optimize performance & caching strategies (Page/Render caching, BigPipe).
  • Manage site dependencies using Composer, perform administrative tasks with Drush, and support CI/CD pipelines.
  • For frontend-focused candidates: implement themes, accessibility standards, and integrate with JS/React frontends.
  • Provide clear explanations of design decisions, trade-offs, and lessons learned from past projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Drupal 9/10/11, including real project implementations.
  • Proficient in Migrate API and related modules (migrate_plus, migrate_tools).
  • Experience in developing custom Drupal modules and extending Drupal functionality.
  • Solid understanding of Drupal APIs, hooks, services, and event subscribers.
  • Experience with REST/JSON:API, authentication mechanisms, and API versioning.
  • Familiarity with headless/decoupled Drupal architecture.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization, caching strategies, and site scaling.
  • Experience with Composer, Drush, and CI/CD pipelines for Drupal projects.
  • For frontend candidates: strong JavaScript, React, theming, and accessibility expertise.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to explain technical decisions.
