Job Description
General requirements:
A senior Linux admin with heavy database management/administration experience. He / She will be responsible for general administration/management of MySQL/MariaDB, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL databases.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine system maintenance and resolve server-side issues as they arise.
  • Proactively monitoring systems for performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Coordinate and implement OS/software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes.
  • Install, configure, and manage core Linux applications and services.
  • Create and modify scripts to perform routine tasks.
  • Provision MySQL/MariaDB servers, including master and slave instances.
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
  • Handle common database procedures – upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, replication, etc.
  • Analysis, implementation and testing of data migration procedures.
  • Database monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Performing back-up and recovery procedures.
  • Install and configure web servers using Apache (Nginx and Lighttpd) and MySQL
  • Support deployments of custom applications and public facing websites.
  • Prepare system configuration and specification documentation.
  • Supporting a multi-tier application stack.
  • Responsible for technical troubleshooting for high priority escalations.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Linux system administration – deployment, administration, networking, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, troubleshooting and production operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience administering MySQL/MariaDB, MSSQL, PostgreSQL
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux: Ubuntu (preferred), SUSE, RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
  • Strong scripting skills in Shell, Perl, and/or Python
  • Experience with replication configuration in MySQL/MariaDB, MSQL
  • Experience administering core Linux-based applications and services such as Apache, OpenSSH, iptables, LUKS, postfix, etc.
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
  • Operations experience in 24/7, global system environments
