We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Operation Technology Team as Vice President of Python Automation & Quality Engineering.

Division

Operations Technology develops and maintains systems in support of Morgan Stanley's global Operations, including (but not limited to) Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping, Corporate Actions processing and other post-trade functions. Operations Technology is a global organization that is client-focused and functionally aligned. Our organization is built to support our clients functional, regional and business-facing requirements while delivering innovative technology and ensuring plant and processing stability. The Firm operates at scale with up to 40 million trades processed on peak volume days and hundreds of billions of dollars of daily settlements with activity ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe. There is a great breadth of financial products that our Operations plant handles across equity and fixed income, from cash products to complex derivatives and loans.

What you'll do in the role:

This role will be responsible for defining and driving the vision, architecture, and execution of robust Python-based API test automation frameworks across our enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a track record of delivering scalable, high-quality automation solutions aligned with modern software development and DevOps best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the strategy, design, and delivery of enterprise-grade API automation frameworks supporting RESTful and SOAP services.
• Provide technical leadership across global QA and engineering teams; mentor and grow automation developers to achieve excellence.
• Oversee architecture and implementation of scalable, high-performing, and maintainable test solutions using Python, SQL, and cloud-native technologies.
• Drive automation-first quality strategies, enabling faster, reliable, and secure software delivery through CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with Product, Development, DevOps, and Data Engineering teams to align quality goals with business priorities.
• Monitor and continuously improve API test coverage, performance benchmarks, and defect resolution processes.
• Lead innovation in automation by evaluating emerging technologies such as AI/ML-driven testing, synthetic monitoring, and data visualization (e.g., Power BI).
• Represent QA Automation in executive forums and contribute to enterprise architecture and engineering strategy.

What you'll bring to the role:

• 10 years of experience in software engineering and test automation, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or VP-level role.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, API test frameworks (Pytest, Requests), and working knowledge of data platforms like DB2, GreenPlum.
• Proven track record of implementing robust CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Docker, etc.) in Agile/DevOps environments.
• Strong experience with REST/SOAP API testing, JSON/XML parsing, schema validation, and request/response debugging.
• Familiarity with secure API authentication (OAuth, JWT), and API documentation standards (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Hands-on experience in distributed systems, microservices architecture, message queues, and event-driven APIs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, influence stakeholders, and deliver strategic outcomes.
