Avionics Software Developer

Role: Avionics Software Developer

Employment Type: Full Time

Educational Qualification: An engineering degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent qualification

Work Experience: 2+ years of demonstrated applicable experience in embedded software development using C and C++

Role Description: Role includes design, development & testing onboard flight software for satellite systems. Works closely with avionics, mission operations team to integrate, validate and optimise software for critical flight operations.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Own flight software application code from design to implementation.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Document associated algorithms/systems and maintain relevant code base.
  • Own simulation and test setups (HILS/SILS) to qualify flight software.
  • Understanding and converting of algorithmic models into production-ready code.
  • Evaluate effectiveness and recommend strategies to optimise algorithm performance.

Skills & Certifications:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++ for embedded systems.
  • Software development within Linux environment and Real-time Operating System (RTOS).
  • Experience writing embedded software within a multi-threaded/multi-processor environment.
  • Familiarity with verification & validation test processes and software debugging tools.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery, static analysers, test automation, flight simulators, software version control systems.
  • Experience in implementing communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART).
  • Knowledge in following is a plus - Python, NASA's F Prime Framework/NASA's cFS Framework, C make build system.
