Duties & Responsibilities

  • Dealing with suppliers
  • Relaying relevant information to both Customer Service and Transport Teams via email and phone
  • Optimise routing to ensure the most profitable solution for container movements
  • Communicating with Ports and Terminals
  • Ensuring correct revenue and costs for movements completed
  • Adhere to cut-off times; both internal and external
  • Liaise with the Team to ensure most efficient planning

We are looking for candidates to apply who have the following:

  • Previous experience as a Transport Operator – ideal but not essential
  • Confident and clear communicator – written and verbal
  • Good UK geographical knowledge
  • Can work on own initiative but also as part of a team
  • Quick and efficient problem solving skills
  • Organised at all times
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the business

The Company
Founded in 2001 by Executive Chairman, John Williams, Maritime Transport has evolved from small beginnings into a leading logistics company with a turnover exceeding £400m.

To date, the company employs 3,000 personnel across 40+ sites including a network of strategic rail freight terminals, with a cutting-edge fleet of 1,300 Euro-6 trucks and over 50 container handlers servicing a number of trains, daily. Maritime has a proven track record as an intermodal operator, developing and delivering low carbon, container logistics solutions for first and final miles, and pioneering the modal shift of UK domestic distribution from road to rail.

In 2024, the company was acquired by Swiss-based global logistics and supply chain provider, MEDLOG S.A., supporting Maritime's growth strategy and strengthening its market position as the UK's leading provider of integrated road and rail freight logistics.
