Job Summary
The Head of Placement will provide strategic leadership and management for all student placement activities. This role involves building and nurturing relationships with corporate partners, aligning institutional goals with industry demands, and developing career readiness programs to ensure high placement rates for students and alumni. The Head of Placement will oversee a team of placement officers and coordinators, serving as the primary liaison between the university, students, and employers.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Planning
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine a comprehensive placement strategy that aligns with the institution's academic programs and evolving job market trends.
- Establish short- and long-range operating plans, including budgets, program services, and staffing.
- Analyze and interpret placement trends, performance metrics, and industry demands to identify new recruitment opportunities.
Employer and Stakeholder Relations
- Cultivate and maintain strong, high-level relationships with corporate partners, industry leaders, alumni, and other potential employers.
- Act as the primary representative of the institution in interactions with employers, professional organizations, and industry events.
- Collaborate closely with academic departments, deans, and faculty to ensure that placement activities meet their needs and that the curriculum remains aligned with industry expectations.
Team and Program Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of placement professionals, setting performance goals and providing effective feedback.
- Oversee the coordination and execution of campus recruitment drives, job fairs, workshops, and networking events.
- Monitor all placement-related processes, including candidate screening, interviews, and follow-ups, to ensure a seamless and efficient experience for students and recruiters.
Career Counseling and Student Engagement
- Oversee the provision of career counseling, guidance, and training for students on topics such as resume writing, interview skills, and professional etiquette.
- Ensure the placement team provides guidance and support to students throughout their job search and placement process.
- Track and manage the recruitment and placement data for students and alumni, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
Administration and Reporting
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on placement outcomes, budget utilization, and departmental performance for senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage the departmental budget and resources effectively to achieve placement goals.
- Ensure all placement activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A Master's degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Career Counseling, or Higher Education Administration is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 810 years of progressive experience in placement activities, career services, or corporate recruitment, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, with a proven track record of successful placement outcomes.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of industry trends, labor market dynamics, and effective recruitment practices.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS), career services software, and data analysis tools.
- Networking: An extensive network of industry connections and experience in fostering strong employer relationships.
