Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Instruction
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with IB MYP and DP Language & Literature frameworks. Should be well versed with IB MYP course and DP Language & Literature course outline requirements including understanding of subject texts and IB Prescribed list of titles for language English.
- Use inquiry-based, concept-driven approaches that connect learning to real-world contexts.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs and support language development for all students.
- Integrate the IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL skills) into lesson planning and classroom practice.
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments in line with IB criteria and assessment guidelines. Should be familiar with both MYP eassessment and DP assessments (HL &SL) - internal and external
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support their learning journey.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and prepare reports for parents and school leadership.
Collaboration & Contribution
- Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary units and vertical curriculum planning.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and curriculum review processes.
- Contribute to the schools language policy, literacy development initiatives, and extracurricular activities.
- Prepare and mentor students for public speaking roles, including anchoring, compering, and master of ceremonies duties for school events, fostering confidence and effective communication skills.
- Work collaboratively with ESL teachers to plan and implement strategies that support English language learners in accessing and engaging with the Language & Literature curriculum.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Master's degree in English Literature.
- Recognized teaching qualification/certification.
- Experience teaching secondary school English
- Familiarity with inquiry-based and student-centered learning approaches.
