- FunctionResponsibilityFitting Read blueprints, measure, and precisely align/secure (fit-up) complex cast components or prepare castings for repair using tools like grinders, squares, and calipers.
- Welding Execute high-quality welds (often TIG, MIG, or SMAW) to repair defects (like voids, cracks, or porosity) in castings and/or weld multiple cast parts together into final assemblies.
- Foundry SpecificFocus heavily on repairing, blending, and finishing high-value castings (e.g., steel, iron, or specialized alloys), often involving specialized procedures like pre-heating or specific cooling protocols to prevent distortion.
- QualityInspect all work (both fit and weld) to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural soundness, often using precision gauges and checking for compliance with industry codes (AWS/ASME).
