Position Overview
The Department of Forensic Medicine at Aarogyam Medical College invites applications from qualified and dedicated medical educators for faculty and resident positions. The selected candidates will be responsible for academic instruction, medico-legal training, research, and medico-administrative responsibilities in accordance with National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive teaching in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology as per NMC curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
- Conduct and supervise medico-legal autopsies, age estimation, injury analysis, and toxicological examinations in coordination with local authorities.
- Train students in medico-legal documentation, court procedures, and evidence handling as per legal and ethical standards.
- Facilitate interactive learning through case-based discussions, simulations, and interdisciplinary sessions with departments like Pathology and Community Medicine.
- Prepare and evaluate internal assessments, theory and practical exams with academic fairness and transparency.
- Maintain proper documentation, registers, and case records as per institutional and legal requirements.
- Guide and mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in academic, medico-legal, and research work.
- Participate in court appearances, provide expert medical opinions, and assist in the preparation of medico-legal reports when required.
- Ensure maintenance and confidentiality of medico-legal evidence and adherence to the chain of custody.
- Develop teaching aids, forensic museum exhibits, and e-learning resources to enhance student understanding.
- Lead or participate in research on forensic, toxicological, and medico-legal subjects; publish findings in reputed journals.
- Assist in medico-legal audit processes, mortuary management, and ensure biohazard safety and ethical conduct during autopsies.
- Participate in seminars, CME programs, workshops, and faculty development activities organized by the department or institution.
- Ensure departmental readiness for NMC inspections and contribute to policy formulation related to forensic and legal protocols.
- Uphold discipline, integrity, and professional conduct in all medico-legal and academic responsibilities.
Eligibility Criteria
• Qualification: MD in Forensic Medicine (or equivalent qualification) from a recognized institution.
• Experience: As per NMC norms for the respective designation.
• Skills: Proficiency in medico-legal work, report writing, autopsy procedure, teaching, and courtroom presentation; strong ethical and communication skills.
