Payroll Specialist – Salary Processing

Key Responsibilities:Payroll Processing:

  • Manage full-cycle payroll processing for all employees (monthly/bi-weekly, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as tax, EPF, ESIC, gratuity, and other deductions.
  • Handle payroll inputs such as attendance, bonuses, leaves, and overtime.
  • Prepare payroll reports and coordinate disbursements with finance or banks.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies or employee queries.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Maintain up-to-date records of payroll transactions and employee compensation.
  • Ensure payroll processes comply with local labor laws and tax regulations.
  • File necessary payroll returns and coordinate with auditors as needed.

Profit Analysis & Cost Tracking:

  • Analyze payroll-related expenses and contribute to labor cost forecasting.
  • Work with the finance team to evaluate the impact of salary payouts on company profitability.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to human resources.
  • Monitor variances in payroll expenses and recommend cost optimization opportunities.

Process Improvement:

  • Assist in the implementation or enhancement of payroll software systems.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to payroll and reporting processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and security of payroll information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or related field.
  • Proven experience (2–5 years) as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices, tax regulations, and compliance laws.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., SAP, ADP, Tally, Zoho Payroll, etc.).
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with multi-state or international payroll (if applicable).
  • Exposure to financial reporting or profit & loss (P&L) analysis.
  • Certifications such as CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or related.
