Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Optometry Services:

  • Conduct detailed eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, refraction, and binocular vision assessment.
  • Diagnose and manage common refractive errors, accommodative issues, and ocular surface disorders.
  • Perform contact lens fittings, educate patients on lens care, and manage contact lens-related complications.

Patient Management:

  • Assist in the pre-operative assessment of patients scheduled for cataract and other surgical procedures.
  • Provide post-operative care, monitoring patients recovery and advising on post-surgical eye care routines.
  • Educate patients on eye health, the use of prescribed optical aids, and preventive eye care measures.

Diagnostic Testing:

  • Perform advanced diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), and corneal topography under the supervision of senior clinicians.
  • Assist in the diagnosis of eye diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration through imaging and other diagnostic techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of diagnostic results and ensure the timely reporting of findings to the consulting ophthalmologists.

  • Patient Education and Counselling:

  • Counsel patients on the use of eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical devices, emphasizing the importance of adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications to improve eye health, such as tips for managing digital eye strain and preventive eye care strategies.
  • Support patients in understanding their eye conditions and treatment plans, helping them make informed decisions about their care.

Community Outreach:

  • Participate in community eye health programs, school screenings, and outreach camps organized by the hospital.
  • Conduct vision screenings and provide basic eye care services in outreach settings, supporting the hospitals mission to improve eye health in the community.Role & responsibilities
