Key Responsibilities

  • Design plastic seating components ensuring correct packaging with structure, foam, and mechanisms.
  • •Style feasibility checks based on regulations ,manufacturing feasibility and environment
    •Design for manufacturing (DFM) principles for injection molding, blow molding, or vacuum forming.
  • •Select plastic materials based on performance, finish, and cost
  • •Perform tolerance stack-up and interface analysis with surrounding seat components.
    •Support CAE for structural, fatigue, and thermal simulation of plastic parts.
  • •Conduct DFMEA to identify and mitigate risks in design and manufacturing and plan preparation for DVP&R.
  • •Analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
  • •Collaborate with plastic part suppliers for tool design, mold flow analysis, and process optimization.
    •Review supplier feasibility reports and mold trial results
  • •Support prototype and pre-production builds, ensuring part quality meets specifications.
    •Manage BOM accuracy, engineering change requests, and release documentation.
  • •Ensure designs meet global automotive standards (ECE, FMVSS, AIS) for plastics performance, flammability, and environmental safety.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in plastic part design for injection molding and related processes.
  • •Strong knowledge of automotive plastic materials and surface finishing techniques (graining, painting, soft-touch coating).
  • •Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA, NX) and PLM systems (Teamcenter, Enovia).
    •Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, and PPAP processes.
    •Familiarity with regulatory standards (ECE, FMVSS, ADR, AIS).
