Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of indirect tax processes across multiple legal entities within the company.
- Develop and implement tax forecasts, controlling mechanisms, and validate tax-related reports specifically for indirect taxation.
- Provide expert support and advisory to the Companys Business Units on indirect tax-related issues such as GST, VAT, and other applicable indirect taxes.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (BU heads, finance teams) and external partners (vendors, consultants, lawyers) to achieve compliant and optimal tax outcomes.
- Handle notices related to indirect taxes, ensuring timely and accurate responses; coordinate appeals and hearings with external consultants.
- Make informed decisions on indirect tax positions in consultation with senior tax leadership, preparing draft replies for approvals and submissions.
- Identify and manage tax risks related to indirect taxation and implement strategies for mitigation.
- Manage indirect tax compliance processes, including timely filings and payments, ensuring zero noncompliance.
- Coordinate and facilitate indirect tax audits and lead special tax-related projects.
- Calculate and manage advance tax payments related to indirect taxation within due dates for all region entities.
- Stay updated with tax jurisprudence, legislative changes, and regulatory developments in indirect tax laws; prepare representations and contribute through industry bodies.
- Drive adoption of tax technology solutions to enhance compliance, analytics, and risk management in indirect tax functions.
- Prepare and review deferred tax calculations related to indirect taxes regularly.
- Monitor evolving indirect tax laws and develop proactive strategies to capitalize on legislative changes.
- Support business transactions including acquisitions and mergers from an indirect tax risk minimization perspective.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable indirect tax laws and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or equivalent.
- 05-09 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably with exposure to multinational organizations.
- In-depth knowledge of indirect tax accounting, compliance, and prevailing laws such as GST and VAT.
- Strategic thinker with hands-on approach and ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of working with multiple internal and external parties to achieve objectives.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proactive in driving process improvements and adoption of tax technology.
