Primary Job Title:
Backend Python Developer

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python (Django/Flask).
  • Define and implement database schemas, optimise SQL queries, and manage data access with PostgreSQL or equivalent RDBMS.
  • Containerise applications with Docker and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, tests, and deployments.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests, perform code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices for reliability and security.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, profile application performance, and implement optimisations for latency and throughput.
  • Collaborate closely with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver features on schedule and mentor junior engineers.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

  • Strong proficiency in Python and object-oriented design.
  • Hands-on experience with Django or Flask for building RESTful APIs.
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
  • Experience with Docker and working knowledge of CI/CD workflows and Git.
  • Proven ability to deliver production-grade backend services with a focus on performance and reliability.

Preferred

  • Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, ECS) or other cloud platforms and container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with background job systems / message brokers (Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ) and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
