Trade Reconstruction Analyst

The Trade Reconstruction Analyst will be responsible for end-to-end trade reconstruction activities to support regulatory inquiries, internal investigations, and surveillance reviews. This individual will leverage expertise across trading systems, order management platforms, and communication surveillance data to accurately rebuild the timeline of market events. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of trading workflows, data lineage, regulatory expectations, and the operational rigor required to ensure reconstructions are accurate, timely, and audit ready.

This role is critical in supporting the firm s compliance with global regulatory obligations including MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, SEC, FINRA, and FCA requirements related to recordkeeping and trade surveillance.

Essential:

• Bachelor s degree in finance, economics, computer science, or a related discipline.

• 3-7 years of experience in trade surveillance, regulatory reporting, compliance operations, or market operations.

• Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle and order flow across multiple asset classes.

• Experience with trading systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Fidessa, etc.) and data analysis tools (SQL, Python, Excel).

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as MiFID II Article 25, Dodd-Frank Recordkeeping, SEC Rule 17a-4, or equivalent global standards.

• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines under regulatory pressure.

Preferred:

• Experience within a global investment bank or broker-dealer environment.

• Exposure to communications surveillance systems (e.g., NICE, Global Relay, etc.).

• Strong understanding of data governance and metadata management practices.

• Project experience in automation or process transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Trade & Communications Reconstruction

• Perform comprehensive reconstructions of trading events across multiple asset classes (e.g., equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives) using trade, order, and communication data.

• Integrate data from multiple systems including order management (OMS), execution management (EMS), trade booking, voice, email, chat, and other communication platforms.

• Validate timestamps, sequencing, and completeness of data to create an accurate, auditable record of events.

• Ensure reconstructions meet the evidentiary standards required by regulators and internal investigations teams.

Regulatory Support & Investigations

• Support compliance and legal teams in responding to regulatory inquiries, subpoenas, and requests (e.g., FCA, FINRA, SEC, CFTC, ESMA).

• Partner with surveillance, legal, and front-office teams to provide accurate and timely reconstructions for potential market abuse or conduct investigations.

• Maintain detailed documentation and audit trails of reconstruction methodologies and data sources.

Data Quality & Governance

• Identify and remediate data quality issues across trading and communication data sources.

• Partner with technology and operations teams to enhance data lineage, completeness, and retention frameworks.

• Participate in periodic reviews of system changes and data feed enhancements that impact reconstruction workflows.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Contribute to the design and implementation of process improvements and automation tools to increase efficiency in reconstruction efforts.

• Collaborate with technology teams to define business requirements for reconstruction systems and tools.

• Assist in testing and validating enhancements to reconstruction platforms or data pipelines.
