Job Description:
A mechanical supervisor's job description includes leading a team, overseeing the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, ensuring safety compliance, and managing schedules and budgets. They are responsible for technical support, training staff, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that mechanical equipment and projects operate efficiently and safely. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and manage a team of mechanical engineers and technicians.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Oversee all aspects of mechanical maintenance, including preventive, predictive, and emergency repairs for equipment like pumps, compressors, and piping systems.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues promptly.
  • Project Support: Provide technical input for projects, review designs, and ensure the operability of new and existing equipment.
  • Scheduling and Planning: Develop and implement maintenance schedules and assist with resource forecasting.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and safety issues.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventories of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Coordination: Liaise with other departments, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless operations. 
 
Qualifications
  • Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, though some roles may accept a high school diploma with extensive experience.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with significant supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Deep understanding of mechanical systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with relevant software, such as project management and mechanical design software.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
