Job Title: OT Incharge

Department: Operation Theatre (OT) Location: Dr. Aravind's IVF Hospital,

Reporting To: Medical Director / Nursing Superintendent

Job Summary:

The OT Incharge will be responsible for supervising the overall functioning of the Operation Theatre, ensuring smooth surgical operations, maintaining sterility and safety standards, managing OT staff, and coordinating with doctors and anesthetists for successful patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Operation Theatre Management

• Oversee day-to-day functioning of the OT and ensure readiness for all surgical procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterility standards inside OT.
• Prepare OT schedules and coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff.

Patient Care & Safety

• Ensure proper pre-operative and post-operative care of patients.
• Verify patient identity, consent, and surgical site before procedures.
• Monitor compliance with infection control protocols.

Team Supervision

• Lead, guide, and supervise OT nurses, technicians, and support staff.
• Allocate duties and ensure discipline, punctuality, and teamwork.
• Conduct training sessions on surgical protocols, sterilization, and emergency handling.

Equipment & Inventory Management

• Ensure proper functioning, sterilization, and maintenance of OT equipment and instruments.
• Maintain stock of surgical consumables, medicines, and emergency drugs.
• Coordinate with purchase/inventory department for timely replenishment.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain OT registers, checklists, and patient records.
• Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Prepare reports on OT utilization, incidents, and audits.

Qualifications & Skills:

• B.Sc / M.Sc Nursing or Diploma in OT Technology.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in OT management (preferably in IVF or multispecialty hospitals).
• Strong knowledge of surgical protocols, sterilization, and infection control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and crisis management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
