Role & responsibilities

The QC Head is responsible for ensuring the quality of fabrics produced at the process house, from raw material inspection to finished goods. This involves conducting various quality checks at different stages of the production process, identifying defects, and collaborating with production teams to implement corrective actions. The role requires a strong understanding of textile manufacturing processes, quality control procedures, and a keen eye for detail.

Raw Material Inspection:

Inspect incoming raw materials (yarn, dyes, chemicals, etc.) for quality and adherence to specifications. This may include checking for color consistency, strength, purity, and proper documentation.

In-Process Quality Control:

Monitor the quality of fabric at various stages of processing, including:

  • Pre-treatment: Check for proper scouring, bleaching, and mercerizing.
  • Dyeing: Verify shade matching, color fastness, and levelness.
  • Printing (if applicable): Inspect print quality, design accuracy, and color consistency.
  • Finishing: Check for proper softening, stiffening, and other finishing treatments.
  • Weaving: Monitor fabric construction, density, and potential defects.

Fabric Inspection:

  • Conduct final inspection of finished fabrics to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications. This includes:
  • Identifying and classifying defects (e.g., knots, slubs, stains, holes, uneven dyeing).
  • Measuring fabric width, length, and weight.
  • Evaluating fabric appearance, handle, and drape

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of quality control checks, including inspection reports, defect logs, and test results.

Testing:

Conduct or coordinate various fabric tests, such as color fastness, tensile strength, tear strength, pilling resistance, and dimensional stability. This may involve using lab equipment.

Collaboration:

Work closely with production teams to identify the root causes of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Quality System Implementation:

Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of the company's quality management system (e.g., ISO 9001).

Sampling:

Collect representative samples of fabrics for testing and analysis materials supplied by vendors.

Vendor Management:

May be involved in evaluating and monitoring the quality of materials supplied by vendors.
