Data Security Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail -oriented Data Security Engineer with a focus on Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in our systems and networks through thorough assessments and penetration tests. You will work closely with senior team members to ensure the security and integrity of our organization's data assets. Responsibilities: • Vulnerability Assessments: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments of systems, networks, and applications using automated scanning tools and manual techniques. Identify and prioritize security vulnerabilities based on severity and potential impact • Penetration Testing: Perform penetration tests to simulate real -world cyber -attacks and assess the effectiveness of security controls. Exploit vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access and provide recommendations for remediation • Security Tool Management: Assist in the management and configuration of security testing tools, including vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and exploit toolkits • Security Remediation Support: Collaborate with IT teams to remediate identified vulnerabilities and security weaknesses. Provide guidance and recommendations for implementing security best practices and mitigating risks • Incident Response Assistance: Provide support during cybersecurity incidents related to identified vulnerabilities. Assist in investigating security incidents and analyzing the impact on data security • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing activities, including findings, recommendations, and remediation efforts. Prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and management • Security Awareness: Participate in security awareness initiatives to educate employees about the importance of vulnerability management and best practices for securing systems and networksRequirements Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field • Strong interest in cybersecurity with a focus on vulnerability assessment and penetration testing • Familiarity with common security testing tools such as Nessus, OpenVAS, Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Nmap • Basic understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and web technologies • Knowledge of common security vulnerabilities and attack vectors, including OWASP Top 10 • Excellent analytical and problem -solving skills • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to learn from senior team members Preferred Qualifications: • Relevant internship or work experience in cybersecurity or vulnerability management • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to vulnerability management, such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and GDPR Benefits
