Job Purpose (Why Job Exists?)

The Technician (Battery Dismantling) assists in the safe and systematic dismantling of electric vehicle (EV) and stationary energy storage system (BESS) battery packs into individual modules and cells. This role requires working knowledge of battery architecture, hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical disassembly, and strict adherence to safety protocols for handling lithium-ion and other chemistries. The ideal candidate has experience in EV service, battery pack maintenance, or related technical fields.

Key Result Area

Battery Pack Dismantling

• Disassemble high-voltage battery packs from EVs and BESS systems into modules and individual cells
• Remove connectors, busbars, cooling plates, BMS boards, and structural enclosures carefully without damaging internal components
• Identify and isolate damaged or hazardous cells during dismantling

Tool Usage & Process Adherence

• Use appropriate tools such as insulated hand tools, electric screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and battery lifters
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety work instructions strictly
• Ensure all dismantling activities are documented and performed within defined timelines

Component Handling & Sorting

• Segregate dismantled items (modules, cells, electronics, metal frames) into appropriate bins for testing, repurposing, or recycling
• Tag components with identification codes, source battery info, and basic condition remarks
• Support traceability by maintaining dismantling reports and photo documentation

Safety & Compliance

• Work in compliance with high-voltage and ESD safety procedures
• Wear full PPE including gloves, face shield, fire-resistant clothing, and antistatic gear
• Immediately report and isolate any signs of thermal runaway, electrolyte leakage, or short-circuit risk
