Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain dbt models, macros, and transformations to support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Implement scalable data transformation pipelines using dbt Core or dbt Cloud.
  • Develop modular, reusable, and well-documented SQL-based models following software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to define and implement data models aligned with organizational needs.
  • Implement and manage dbt tests (schema, data quality, and custom tests) to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Integrate dbt with data ingestion and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
  • Optimize data transformations for performance, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Use Git for version control and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of dbt projects.
  • Generate and maintain dbt documentation and data lineage using dbt Docs.
  • Work with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks) and data ingestion tools (Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch).
  • Contribute to the establishment of data governance, naming conventions, and development standards across teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with dbt Core or dbt Cloud.
  • Strong SQL programming skills, including CTEs, window functions, and query optimization.
  • Deep understanding of ELT/ETL principles and data modeling techniques (Star/Snowflake schema).
  • Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks).
  • Proficiency in version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience integrating dbt with orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) and data ingestion tools (Fivetran, Stitch).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for dbt deployment and data testing frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot data issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in cross-functional environments.
