Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings for HPDC components using CAD software (SolidWorks/NX).
  • Design die casting dies, gating-runner systems, cooling channels, ejector systems, and parting lines.
  • Conduct DFM/DFMEA for all new components to ensure manufacturability and defect-free production.
  • Work closely with production, tooling, and quality teams for design validation and feasibility review.
  • Optimize designs to reduce cycle time, material usage, porosity, and casting defects.
  • Perform simulation analysis (Magmasoft/ProCAST/AnyCasting) for flow, cooling, and solidification.
  • Prepare BOM, technical documentation, and engineering change notes.
  • Support tool trials, sample inspection, and PPAP documentation.
  • Identify improvements in existing die designs for higher productivity and tool life.
  • Coordinate with customers for design requirements, approval, and change management.

Required Skills Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of High Pressure Die Casting processes, die design fundamentals, and aluminum alloys.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX) and casting simulation software.
  • Understanding of GDT, tolerance analysis, and engineering standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and product specifications.
  • Problem-solving skills for casting defects: porosity, cold shuts, misrun, warpage, etc.
  • Good communication for cross-functional and customer interactions.

Qualification Experience

  • Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Automobile/Production Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in HPDC design or die/tooling design.

Preferred

  • Experience in automotive HPDC components.
  • Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and quality tools.
  • Exposure to CNC machining requirements for post-casting operations.
